Athlete's Corner

  • (Spring/Summer 2007) Congrats to Ralph P. (MN) for competing in his first road race after almost 7 years. Congrats Ralph on a strong finish with the Master's Men!
  • Gina Bosco (ID) has become quite the multisport athlete, having completed her first ever triathlon, followed by her very first duathlon (The Camel Back Duathlon) where she finished 2nd overall in her age group.  Way to go, Gina!
  • Road Cyclist, Becky M. (PA) is on a roll lately...literally! In her 2nd season of racing she has accumulated several Cat 4 wins, and several impressive breakaways in the Open 1/2/3/4 fields. Becky LOVES to climb. Watch for other exciting race results as the season continues...

Coach Comments (Kim):
Marianne is very tenacious and continues to impress me with her willingness to face new challenges. She entered the sport of bike racing at an age older than most. But, that hasn't stopped her from putting her best efforts into reaching her potential. She has won several North Carolina State Championships, finished on the podium at the 2003 Masters Nationals, and successfully moved from a Category 4 to a Category 2 racer. In addition, she joined the 2004 Travel Girls Cycling Team, a team based out of Atlanta which competes in a number of the nation's toughest events as well as a number of regional races. I believe Marianne has proven that she has the skill, confidence and fitness to have an impact in the races she enters. She is certainly not content racing as "pack fill". Marianne enjoys training with some fast guys in the Charlotte area, especially with her husband, Butch! Keep up the good work, Marianne.

Congratulations to Marianne for winning TWO Gold Medals at the 2004 North Carolina State Road Race Championships!
